Stormy Times

The other night one of the boys (Jack) slept in with me and therefore I went to bed early. About 20:30. Therefore I was awake at 01:30 thinking what am I going to do now.

There was a bit of a storm out to the North so I thought I might grab the camera and have a bit of a play with the lightening...

If you look really closely you can see the lightening. (really closely LOL)

Was good fun but the Mozzies got me in the end.

Santa's Radio

Santa Bought me a UHF radio for my Beloved Delica for Xmas and Today I installed it - myself - I'm so proud

Had a bit of fun doing it and am looking forward to giving it a run on our next Delica Day Out.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas,

Well the day is here and the tree is full, the kids are still asleep and it's already hot as.

Last night was our drive around town to check out all the lights - so as to tire out the kids so they would sleep in a little bit LOL.. seems to have worked.

Hope everyone gets what they want this year..

again Merry Christmas...

Paluma - again

Well back now from the Paluma trip,

We nearly didn't make it, we had to take Kate to Hospital on Friday morn with her cyclic vomiting,
Fortunately with our new letter for the ED she was treated straight away in stead of "we'll just observe her for a few hours" and quick treatment (sedation) means only an overnight stint but this time with obliging doctors Kate was home Friday night Yay!!

Anyway..
It was one on those trips – good and bad!!
The venue was great,

the weather was great.

I forgot nearly all the important stuff, (after Kate being in hospital and all)
And the Kids (boys) were atrocious LOL.

I even took them on a big bush walk to try and kill off some energy and they were little angels, as soon as we opened the door to the room they turned in the devil himself.
I’m sure my brother and I were never like that (right Mum?).

Our Lollie Lunch..

Kate being not 100% didn’t help, neither me forgetting the Panadol, Or a syringe for her seizure meds, or food for lunch or…should I go on!

All in all when we arrived home tonight everyone was happy and felt like they had a good time, and that was the main aim.
Donna didn’t even take her phone with her!!!

Where are my Grapes and Palmfronds??

It’s Will’s birthday tomorrow (22nd) so we’ll leave it up to him to what we will do. That should be fun. Ha.

The Crocs

It has been a big week with Kate finishing school and all but:

Friday saw Jack and I in the workshop making a tray for our Xmas decoration!

My Little Tradie

Then Friday night was our usual Strand trip for Macca's - but this time we had Fish and Chips and it was bloody Terrible!!

And a play on the Spider Web.

Kate and Will were off taking 'Lady' for a walk with Julia!

I had won two tickets to the Basketball to see the Crocs play Thanks to MacDonalds McCafe.
So I took Jack - and he bought a Crocs hat and Had it signed by two of the players!

Paluma Recon

On Sat we went for a drive up the Paluma Range to Lake Paluma to check out some summer camping spots.

It was deadset 10 deg cooler than in town, which was a godsend for Sat.

The drive is a beaut one, about 3/4's of the way up we reached the clouds and down came the windows and up went the sunroof and rear curtains. For about 20mins we drove through thick cloud (this was at about 10am).

On reaching the village we stopped off at the local Cafe/Inn and sampled some of their scones and cake. As were a group of 7 Bike riders also enjoying the cool day out.

After a quick bite it was then onto the dirt and out to the Lake.

A bit of a cruise around by Kate and her chair we soon picked out some good (accessible) camp spots.
A check out of the toilets and all was set for a future trip for sure.

The Kids had a play in the water (no stingers here) and then another bite to eat it was back into the car, back down the mountain and to finish it off a stop at Frosty Mango for some late afternoon ice cream.

This should be the next trip for the Delica Club NQ Chapter for sure.

Hana's Birthday

I know it’s been a while but things have been so busy with the end of the school year and all.

Last week end my niece Hana had her first birthday and we headed over to Magnetic Island for her party. It was the kids first time on the barge.

A couple of mates that I used to work with were working on the barge on Saturday so the kids had a go at steering the barge and got a good view from the wheelhouse.
The weather was superb for us on the island but Townsville copped a bit of a storm while the party was going on.

Photo's finally

Well I finally got the pics from the day I did the demo of the CO2 Racers a few weeks ago.

The track is about 25 meters long and the cars travel along it in around 1.5 seconds. Pretty quick huh!

The Kids seemed to LOVE it.

It’s getting close to the end of the year and things are HECTIC, that’s why I haven’t posted for about a week.

Sorry.

Not too much has been happening, all the kids are well so that’s good.

We have decided that Kate is going to change schools next year but I think Jack will stay at the school he is at now. No point changing him if he is happy there!

Hana chan’s birthday is getting close and the kids are looking forward to going to the island for her party.

And we must not forget it’s Lady’s birthday also the day after Hana’s.
So presents all round!

School Search

Today we took Kate to the Southern Cross school for her to check out and meet some tof the teachers there as we are changing schools for her next year.

I liked it and I think Kate did too.

We have a meeting with The Cathedral School on Monday to see if Kate could go there. Then we will chose the best school to suit Kate/our needs so watch this space.

Another thing is that Kate's Pathfinder is coming to an end of it's life, the lights are starting to not work and it's never worked properly since it was dropped????? That's another story!

So now we are looking at upgrading to the latest in the Minspeak range which is the ECO-14.

It looks pretty flash but I don't know what type of money it is yet? Not even sure if they are in Australia yet?

Kate had an appointment with her peadiatrician today about her rash but the Doctor said that it was not the rash is is normally associated with tegretol side effects.

So that's all good!

Lolliepops

Yesterday Will and I went to swimming lessons and Will did such a good job we then met Nana at Lollipops Playland.

After a quick juice and a bowl of wedges it was onto the fun!

Going down the slide!!

Storm (Will) in a Tea Cup

We also met up with an old friend Mick whom we haven't seen for ages.

After about 2 and a half hours we headed for home.

A quick nap in the car and Will was rearing to go again.

The play at home had to come to an end when we had to go and get Kate from school BUT on the way home I picked up some fruit and natural yoghurt and made some delicious Frozen Fruit Smoothies with Raspberries, Blueberries and Banana with the yoghurt.

The Kids loved them in the afternoon as a refresher, I admit I'm a bit partial to them too.

Some fresh Ravioli for dinner and everyone was kicking back for a lovely night of reading some stories.

A Day at Home

After yesterday we decided to have a day at home.

Mum and Kate read the paper while Jack made breakfast!

Will was invited to a birthday party at 9am for a 10am start, no problems, the invitations didn’t go out as planned. But he made it to his best mates party.

Kate and Jack did some painting on the easels that I had made for the kids, while Will was at the party.

Had some great rain last night really need to mow the yard again though!

Tomorrow Donna has a meeting with the principal of a school that we are checking out for Kate, we are going to try and get her to the school that I work and the boys go as well but we’ll just have to wait and see.

This afternoon I gave the old fish tank a good clean, it sure needed it. I pulled out some of the plants as it was getting a bit cluttered so hopefully the fish will appreciate that.

News today of the execution of the Bali bombers, don’t really has any feelings about that in itself but I still feel sorrow for the people killed and injured.

Delica Day Out

Well we finally had our Delica Day Out.

What a disaster.

No not really.

It was great to meet Cooper64, Jim, y0di, Pedro and Byte and there respective families.
Unfortunately Pedro and Byte couldn't come along to Jourama Falls

The drive was great, but as soon as we turned off the highway the heavens opened and down she came.

We parked the Delicas, opened the tailgates and huddled under them until it subsided enough to make a bee line for a shelter.

We (the adults) were soaking wet and cooking sausages in no time while the kids ran around in the rain. Lucky it was about 30deg cel.

It didn't stop us from having a good yarn and chatting about our cars.

Now it's time to start organising the next one!

Jack's blood test?

Had to bring bring Jack home today from school with swollen glands and a fever.

Straight in to the Doctors and he ordered some blood tests of Glandular fever.

Jack was so brave, he didn't even flinch as the nurse stuck the needle in.

HE EVEN WATCHED???

I couldn't.

We will get the results back on Mon - Watch this space!

Tests back

Kate got her tests back today, Her Tegretol levels are a bit below?? what they usually run at. So I must stand corrected.

Her rash is still evident though so we need to make an other appointment with our Paediatrician to find out what we can do about it.

Jack had swimming lessons today and is feeling a bit flat, he was quiet upset that we sold our Kia Carnival last night.

But now we have our Delica so that cheered him up a bit.

It starting to get quiet humid here just sitting at the computer I'm sweating like a pig.

I must say that I'm happy Obama won the US election I think it will be a positive change.

Definitely a lot of less dead American soldiers if he does what he said he was going to do, he certainly has a mandate for it.

I Know I've been really slack on the pics but I will make up for it, I'm waiting for a few people to email some pics of the CO2 racers from the other day.

If you are reading this I would love it if you left a comment, I'm mainly keeping this as a record of what is happening in our world but if you do stumble across us pls drop us a line.

Cheers

Blood tests

Katie had her blood test yesterday afternoon.

She was so brave and the nurses did a great job making her feel at ease.

Can't wait to find out the results.

Built a step/platform for Kate today so she can transfer better at school. Gave it a varnish this arvo with some nonslip glass beads added, should be the bomb now!!

Looking fwd to this week end for our Big Delica Day Out wiht the Delica Club, Ice creams, Sausages on bread etc.

Still having trouble getting Kate's teacher aides to fully understand the 'Pathfinder'. I don't know what to do about it, her teacher has been with her for only 5 weeks and seems to know more about it. She really seems interested.

The guy from cairns is flying down this afternoon to pick up the Kia Carnival we have had for sale. So that's nearly all finished.

Can't wait for Saturday!!

Mondays

Had a big shop today and dragged poor old Will around.

Got a fair bit done. We just had a swim the water was just perfect.

This weekend we're having our Delica Day Out at Jourama Falls, it seem to be getting a bit of a crowd it should be good.

There seems to be a few kids going so it'll be ice creams all round. Haven't posted any pics lately not much to photograph. Should be heaps after the week end.

Kate has to get some blood tests done to check the levels of her Tegretol in her system (the rash) will try and do that this afternoon.

My personal opinion is that the dose she is on is to high and needs to be cut back, We'll soon see.

At least she shows no sign on her cyclic vomiting or seizures. Touch wood.

Busy Days

Hey all It's been a busy couple of days.

Took today off work to clean up the yard and shed.
Just finished mowing the backyard and it started to rain - good timing -.

Kate went swimming with her school class to today with Paul Sadler swim school. How good are they.

We had to write a letter from our lawyer because the previous swim school would not allow Kate to go swimming with her own class. So Kate's school changed providers to Paul Sadler. There are 2 kids (inc Kate) with disabilities in her class and both of them went swimming today with the rest of their class. Thanks Paul Sadler the kids had a ball!

We all went down the strand tonight and had Macca's on the beach. Starting to see a trend here.
Jack ran into one of his mates from school. twas a good night.

They cut down a tree at work today and we're going to get it slabbed up. should be good in 12 months.

CO2 Racing Cars

Did a display for the little kids at school today with the CO2 cars.

We have a 25mtr track and race 2 cars side by side which are powered by soda bulbs.

It's a pretty flash set up with a timing device which times to 1/1000 of a sec.

Any way the Prep kids (Jacks Class), Pre Prep and Snr Kindy (Wills Class) got a huge kick out of it.

At the start of each race there's gas and noise and the kids nearly jumped out of their skins first time around.

I've got some picks which I will add when I upload them.

Took Jack to the doctor today with a ear infection, it's a fairly minor one but I want to nip it in the bud seeing that is swimming season.

Kate has a bit of a rash which we think maybe a reaction to the Tegretol, She has an appointment withthe Doctor on Fri.

Seem to be living at the doctors at the moment.

Keep posted

A Day at the Water Park

Today was just a beautiful day that I took the kids (and Lady)to the water park down at the strand.

There we met up wit Nana and Poppy, Uncle Wade, Aunty Miki and Hana chan and Aunty Dor and Uncle Ron.

We pulled out the blankets and got comfortable on the green grass. We ate our sangas, watermelon and fairy bread.

Jack and Will headed straight into the water but Kate was to interested in playing with Hana to worry about the water.

Notice the Delica in the background!!

We finished off the excursion with a walk along the beach much to Lady's delight.

Now off home for a sleep!
